- Contact Emergency Services: Radio channel 1 (BEST option) or 911
- Apprise of complete situation.
- Work with Emergency Services to determine if rescue help is needed.
- Divert traffic in conjunction with umpires on the scene.
- Approach the boat slowly and work to get all rowers out of the water or back into their boat if possible.
- Once the rower is out of the water determine if additional launches are needed to help with boat removal.
- Remove oars from oar locks and if the hull is larger than a 2x bring alongside the launch with someone guiding it slowly to the nearest dock.
- If a race has to be stopped (as determined by Emergency Services), use megaphones and flags.
